Only a few months from Heartbleed, the bug that has affected the most important sites and social networks in the world, eBay has discovered a cyberattack that compromised the user’s database between late February and early March.

A small number of employee credentials has been compromised allowing hackers to access the corporate network and the database containing non-confidential personal information, encrypted passwords and email address.

At the moment there are no evidence of any unauthorized access to financial and credit card information for PayPal users, the company for online payments purchased and managed by eBay, because this data are stored separately and encrypted on secure networks.

Despite the security of credit cards has not been compromised, eBay will contact all its users to suggest them to change their password and use different password for different website.
